Following AS Roma’s elimination from the Champions League round of 16 at the hands of FC Porto, they sacked their manager Eusebio Di Francesco on Thursday.

Even before the Italian’s dismissal was made official, Tutto Mercato Web reported on March 7th that Claudio Ranieri was considered as the ‘wild card’ candidate to replace Di Francesco at Stadio Olimpico.

On February 28th, the former Leicester City boss was also sacked from Fulham after managing 16 Premier League games at the Cottagers.

Calciomercato now claims Ranieri’s appointment as the new Roma manager is expected to be made official today and he will be offered a short contract until the end of the season, worth €500,000.

It is further claimed that there could be a delay of a few hours before it’s made official because Ranieri’s camp are ‘resolving the contract’ with Fulham, where he was shown the exit door.

Ranieri is expected to arrive around 1pm, as long as the Fulham contractual issues can be sorted out.
