As Denis Suarez to Arsenal gets ever more complicated in Spain, and things get a little nasty in negotiations, with Barca and the player, over in France there’s a new fresh transfer route.
Christopher Nkunku has a contract with PSG ending in June 2020, meaning he either needs to leave soon or sign a new contract. The French club will be especially prickly about potential free transfers given the Adrien Rabiot situation.
He’s appeared in 13 Ligue 1 games so far for PSG this season, which sounds pretty good, but from them he’s only accumulated 487 minutes.
The right footer is usually a midfielder, but has also been deployed on the right.
Friday’s edition of L’Equipe reports Arsenal have been in talks with PSG ‘for several days’ to try and come to an agreement over the signing.
It’s explained that when Unai Emery was in charge at the Paris club, he was annoyed by a lack of desire to work hard, and a lack of humility, coming from youngsters at the club.
Nkunku was considered an exception, Emery was impressed by the young man.
Thomas Tuchel has given the move his approval, and it could see a loan with a €20m option to purchase. That’s something Parma, also keen, can’t match.
L’Equipe explains the transfer has a real chance of success, but if PSG only manage to bring one midfielder in before the window shuts, it could kill it… with Nkunku then being needed.
The 21 year old is said to have spoken to teammates about the potential move.
