Greek website Sportime.Gr claim Newcastle United are again back in for Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris after previously being linked with the player in the past.
The Greek midfielder could leave Benfica before next week’s transfer deadline and Newcastle United have been reported as a potential destination for the player.
Samaris’ future at Benfica is uncertain after playing just five league games this season for the Portuguese giants, which could ultimately result in the 29 year old finding a new club in the coming days.
Newcastle United have been constantly linked with a move for Samaris and Sportime report this time the Premier League club have a great chance to sign the Greek international because he will be out of the contract at the end of the season.
This should make Samaris ‘more affordable’ say the Greek media outlet.
Rafael Benitez will be hoping to strengthen his squad in this window but will need the backing of the Newcastle United board.
Samaris has only played 95 minutes of league football this season and he’s reportedly had offers from Saudi Arabia and Russia.
