Friday’s edition of L’Equipe has a transfer special, and Laurent Koscielny is one of the cover stars, with the French newspaper pushing the idea of a surprise move to AS Monaco.
Despite the big splash on the front page, L’Equipe actually says very little about it.
‘Monaco is also interested in the Spanish midfielder (Fabregas) and could strengthen their defence with Laurent Koscielny.’
And ‘In its Wednesday edition, Nice-Matin cited the names of Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal, 33, contract end 2020), Pepe (35, free, ex-Besiktas), Andreas Christensen (Chelsea, 22, 2020) and Martin Skrtel (Fenerbahçe, 34, 2019) as the central defenders targeted.’
So not only is there not really much said, it’s not their own information.
The original Nice Matin claims weren’t so solid either, simply stating: ‘the situation of Laurent Koscielny, who has just returned with Arsenal after a long Achilles tendon injury, is followed by the club of the Principality.’
Today the same regional newspaper says Andreas Christensen, Gary Cahill and Laurent Koscielny are players ‘with the profile’ for Monaco.
Given how different each of those transfers would be, it’s surely a pretty wide profile.
For now, there’s very much nothing to see here.
