Ajax star duo Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong, along with Paris Saint-Germain’s Adrien Rabiot, have long been on the radar of Barcelona.
The latter two have been identified as targets for the midfield as the La Liga winners plan to strengthen the squad for next season.
Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo has an update on the trio and, in particular, about the Frenchman.
It’s claimed the Blaugrana technical secretary, Eric Abidal, is maintaining silence when it comes to his side’s transfer targets and he’s familiar with situations regarding each of these players.
Sources close to the club told the Catalan newspaper that Barcelona are aware of other clubs’ movements in signing them.
Ernesto Valverde’s side will not hesitate to activate contacts, whenever necessary, and the Camp Nou chief is already on top of ‘Rabiot’s case’, who has still not renewed his contract with PSG, which will expire next summer.
Mundo mentions Barca are not the only club interested in the Ligue 1 player and his mother, Veronique Rabiot, who is also his agent, is now suggested to be the ‘main obstacle’ for the Spanish champions.
If PSG fail to convince Rabiot to sign an extension before the end of 2018, then the midfielder will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside France from January 1st.
