Next summer’s Christian Eriksen transfer rumour looks like it will revolve around Real Madrid rather than Barcelona.
The Tottenham player has been linked to Barca repeatedly, with the Danish media hyping any link, however small or unreliable, but there’s never appeared anything especially concrete in the claims.
That may well be different for Real Madrid, at least at an interest level.
El Confidencial are certainly not one of the more outlandish outlets in Spain and have a pretty good record on big Real Madrid transfers. They claim Florentino Perez has two main targets, and those are Neymar and Eriksen.
It’s explained that despite Eden Hazard continually dangling himself in front of Madrid, Perez is ‘not going to make any kind of economic effort’ to sign the Chelsea player.
For Eriksen, he’s seen as someone to help the renewal of the club’s midfield, with Luka Modric 33 years of age, and 28 year old Kroos thought to be tiring.
The Tottenham player is said to already know the interest of Real Madrid and ‘receives the news with satisfaction’.
A potential transfer would surely only happen if Eriksen holds off a renewal to the point Spurs worry about losing the player for nothing.
