There’s a claim in the Italian media that AC Milan were close to signing Bernard ahead of Everton during the last transfer window.
The Brazilian signed for Everton on a free transfer after his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk expired in the summer.
Calciomercato report AC Milan were close to signing Bernard after making a proposal to the free agent. The Serie A giants reportedly offered the player a four year contract to move to the San Siro and it’s claimed the attacker was interested in the move.
However, it’s also claimed Milan’s Leonardo didn’t give the green light to the transfer because Bernard’s agent was asking for €5m for his part in the deal.
Subsequently AC Milan pulled out of the race for the South American, allowing Everton to get a deal done.
After Bernard’s arrival at Goodison Park it’s only in recent weeks the 26 year old has started to get minutes for Marco Silva’s side. Yesterday he completed his first 90 minutes in the Premier League, helping the Toffees to a 2-1 victory over Leicester City.
This could be sour grapes coming from Milan, not that The Toffees will care.
