Harold Mayne-Nicholls is one of the candidates to the Chilean FA’s presidency, and was interview by local newspaper La Tercera today.

The 57-year-old has shown many of the projects he has to the association, especially his will to have more participation from local clubs in all the decisions he would take.

Nicholls had already been the Chilean FA president between 2007 and 2010. During that time, it was Marcelo Bielsa who stayed in charge of the national team, with quite a succesful spell, with 25 wins in 46 games.

Bielsa left the national team right when Nicholls left his position as the chairman. So now that the candidate could return, the rumours are inevitable.

First asked about the current manager Reinaldo Rueda, Nicholls said: “It sounds strange, but I have a friendship with Rueda without suspecting that he was going to be the coach of the National Team. I’ve known him for a long time, at the beginning of this century. That has not changed. I’m happy that it continues.”

Then directly questioned if Bielsa would return, he said: “When Rueda leaves and they have elected me, you come and ask me the question. Everything else is science fiction. And I’ve never liked science fiction. Today, Marcelo has a contract in a club where he is doing very well, I am not president of the ANFP and there is a manager with a current contract at the ANFP.”
