On Saturday morning, several Italian outlets claimed that Everton had made a €25m offer for the Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini. Ronald Koeman would want the player to make a partnership with Romelu Lukaku.

However, it didn’t take much time before the first news about a refusal appeared. Both Gazza Mercato and Gazzetta World are claiming that the bid was immediately rejected, and the Italian club want to renew the striker’s contract.

Everton’s offer reportedly was of €20m up front plus €5m in bonuses, but it was not enough to convince Napoli. Gabbiadini is expected to sign a five-year contract, with a €1m per year pay rise, meaning his next salary will be of around €2.5m per season.

Contradicting the claims, TuttoNapoli have since reported that there’s been no response yet from the Serie A club to Everton’s €25m offer, that’s their latest report. Buying the player was always likely to be difficult, especially after the sale of Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus.
