Steven Gerrard has got off to a good start at Rangers, which can only be a good thing for the new manager and Glasgow club.
Gerrard was taking a necessary risk leaving the Liverpool cocoon for a difficult job at Rangers and he’ll know he needs to have at least partial success if it’s to be a positive mark on his management CV.
One player who hasn’t really been a part of it yet for Rangers this season is Umar Sadiq. The 21 year old joined on loan from AS Roma this summer, but hasn’t yet had a part to play for Gerrard’s team.
Dutch newspaper AD say that despite Sadiq being given the number 9 shirt, it’s been the more trusty Alfredo Morelos getting the nod and the new boy is a ‘bench-sitter’.
AD are interested because they feel it’s indicative of players not kicking on after a spell in Dutch football, and perhaps therefore an example of how the Eredivisie is now seen.
Sadiq did reasonably well for NAC Breda last season, also on loan, but that doesn’t seem to be money in the bank as far as Rangers are concerned.
