Ander Herrera’s wish to stay at Manchester United isn’t being taken by the Spanish press with much enthusiasm.

The midfielder has recently told the club’s official magazine Inside United that he wants to make over 200 appearances for the club, and that’s taken as a bad sign for Athletic Club Bilbao.

Covering the quotes, outlet El Desmarque claims that the player is now a ‘unattainable desire, at least for the current season’.

It’s said that Athletic have made a few approaches during the summer transfer window, but couldn’t finish the job of convincing Herrera to return to his old home.

The outlet adds that the Spaniard is still part of Jose Mourinho’s plans, especially because of the lack of other midfield options in Manchester United’s squad this season.

Ander Herrera’s links with a return to Athletic have been out for a while now, but the Basque side continue to have him as a distant dream.
