The agent of Stefano Sturaro has confirmed that Watford are well placed in the race for the Juventus midfielder.
The quotes come from the Portuguese media today, where there’s big coverage due to Sporting’s wish to sign the player this summer.
Speaking to A Bola, Carlos Volpi has claimed that “Sporting and Watford are the strongest candidates,” in the battle for the 25-year-old.
The newspaper points out that Watford are more ‘pressed’ because the English transfer window closes today. But it doesn’t mean much. Because although Sporting have more time, the Hornets can also make a final attempt and guarantee the signing.
Record, another newspaper that covers it this morning, claims that Watford are ahead in the race, as the club made an offer for a loan deal plus an obligatory buying clause.
They say that Juventus have set Sturaro’s price at €20m, but don’t make it clear if that’s what the Premier League side are offering.
