On Monday evening the Daily Mail reported Bernard is set to sign for Everton.
The Brazilian is a free agent having seen his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk expire earlier this summer. Since then he’s been linked with several clubs, with Chelsea probably the Premier League side to count up the most reports.
In Italy for the past few days it’s been claimed Bernard wants to move to AC Milan and a deal was being negotiated with his agents. For several Italian sources, Chelsea were still in the picture… but nobody mentioned Everton.
Now Calciomercato say their own sources have informed them Milan have pulled out of the race, not wanting to go any further in what is described as an ‘auction’ for the player.
Defeat to Everton is accepted and it’s stated Bernard will ‘fly to Liverpool tomorrow’ to go through his medical with the Merseyside club.
Everton have been ‘decisive’ in the ‘past few hours’ and their efforts have met the approval of the player who has given his ‘yes’ to the transfer.
