If France Football are to be believed, then Chelsea are the latest to join the fray to try and sign Nabil Fékir from Lyon.
Following his failed pre-World Cup move to Liverpool, the France international appeared to be heading towards an extra season in Ligue 1, returning to train with them on Monday.
However, the French magazine believe Chelsea are prepared to give signing Fékir a go in the coming days, keen to aid Maurizio Sarri as much as possible by signing players to help ‘fluidify’ his game before the end of the transfer window on Thursday.
Having shown ‘all their interest’, any deal for the forward would be ‘complicated’ for the Blues, but they certainly have the means to pull it off if they so wish.
France Football then go on a long description of how great Fékir would be in a Sarri team, yet there remains the issue of the Europa League.
Having finished third in Ligue 1, Lyon have a chance of making the Champions League group stages if they win their qualifying tie, something Fékir wouldn’t be able to do at Stamford Bridge.
Honestly, for now, this sounds like making a lot out of very little, especially since no offer or negotiations appear to have opened.
With just three full days left in the transfer window for Chelsea to get a deal done, they might want to get a move on.
