Marco Verratti has had a calm summer.
Without a World Cup the Italian midfielder could have spent the time dropping hints about a potential transfer, much like what happened last year, but instead he’s learned it’s not the best move for a PSG player.
Verratti was forced into a grovelling public back-down when agitating over a transfer last summer, and his agent ended up taking all the blame.
TMW now report a Manchester City ‘attempt’ for the player.
The Premier League club are apparently going to try and sign Verratti between now and when their window shuts next week. But, like so many other clubs, they don’t want to upset the French champions.
Therefore, for the footballer to have any chance of a transfer he needs to come out and tell PSG he wants a transfer. That would then allow Manchester City to move and sign the player without kicking off a transfer war.
It’s unlikely.
