Andre Gomes transfer rumours over the past few months, and probably longer have gone something like this: Link a club weakly, then build up that link with insistence the manager there really wants him, then throw barriers in the way, then return to stage one and link another club.
One day, it’s going to be true and the rumour will turn into an actual transfer, but there’s been so many claims it’s impossible to work out when that will be.
The latest club of choice is West Ham.
Saturday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reported that whilst Manuel Pellegrini has done a lot of business this summer he still ‘insists’ on the club signing Gomes from Barcelona.
Not only that, it was claimed Domingos Quina could go the other way.
Sunday’s edition of Sport, the other Barca leaning Catalan newspaper, also states West Ham want Gomes, but they start to throw hurdles in.
Given his recruitment so far this summer, Pellegrini will need to let go of ‘one or two’ before making a move for the Portuguese midfielder.
Sport say Arsenal and Juventus have been interested, but that interest hasn’t gone anywhere.
