Even though newspaper Record reported that the picture of Chancel Mbemba travelling to Porto was false, there are some claims in Portugal saying the Newcastle player is indeed in the city.
It’s Mais Futebol who claims it, saying that the player has arrived to Porto last night and is now closer to finalising the deal to become a Dragons’ player.
The website writes that the defender is ready to sign a contract with the Portuguese champions which will run until 2022.
These claims aren’t exactly new, as said by Mais Futebol themselves. They write that the player had already been at Porto two weeks ago, when he had agreed a four-year pre-contract with the club and waited for the Dragons to find a deal with Newcastle.
The report says that the process got a little complicated due to the competition from other clubs, but Mbemba has chosen to move to Porto, and things progressed in the past couple of days.
Mais Futebol claims that the deal should be made official this week, unless there’s a new verbal disagreement between Newcastle and Porto.
