Unfortunately, the Stefano Sturaro situation is getting messier again.
At the end of last week it looked like Newcastle United were closing in on the signing, with them offering €14m plus bonuses and Juventus looking like they’d come down to €18m from their original €30m.
With such a small gap there was an assumption in Italy that a deal would be doable and Sturaro was said to be ‘waiting for Newcastle’, having turned down a big money move to China.
At the weekend the player’s agent spoke and opened things up a little. Carlo Volpi said: “Not just Newcastle on him, but other clubs as well. “Who? Ah, you know, for sure, Wolverhampton and Southampton have had a little thought…”
Now Leicester City have been dragged back into the transfer saga. Ciro Venerato, described as a ‘market expert’ has appeared on Italy’s Rai Sport TV channel and said (via TuttoJuve): “Leicester and Newcastle fight for Stefano Sturaro.”
It’s once again stated the Premier League is the most likely destination for the Juventus midfielder, and there’s no update on where Newcastle’s offer currently stands or whether Leicester City have made their own bid.
