Turkish side Trabzonspor are now in the race for the Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba, according to reports today.
It’s the Portuguese press who writes it, as newspaper Correio da Manhã follows Porto’s chase for the 23-year-old, which seems to be getting quite difficult.
The outlet says that Trabzonspor are making a better offer to the Magpies, who don’t really care where the player is going to, as long as the bid is good for the club.
This comes out as a blow for Porto, who had been struggling to agree a fee with Newcastle, and now see another club closer to winning the race.
Correio da Manhã claims that Mbemba wants to move to Porto, because the Dragons’ project seems more attractive, as they have a spot in the Champions League next season.
Recent reports from Portugal have even claimed that the player has already signed a pre-agreement with the Liga NOS club, as he waits for them and Newcastle to find a deal.
But with Trabzonspor making a better bid, maybe Memba won’t get a chance to choose.
