Barcelona won the league and Copa del Rey, while their arch-rivals Real Madrid won their third consecutive Champions League trophy in May. Fans of the Camp Nou outfit have identified winning the Europe’s elite club competition as a priority over winning the domestic competition next season.
Catalan newspaper Sport conducted a survey and asked their readers to vote on several things related to Barcelona. One among them were related to new signings in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen and Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann are the two big signings that Barcelona fans are hoping for, as per Sport’s survey.
The outcome of the survey suggests the incorporation of the Premier League player and the France international to the squad will help the Spanish champions progress in the European competition.
9000 fans voted that Barcelona complete the signing of the Danish international, with Eriksen more popular than Griezmann. The Tottenham star, who has two years left on his current deal at the north London club, has been linked with a move to the Camp Nou in recent weeks, although the local media repeatedly say a move would be impossible.
54.8% of fans who voted said they wanted the midfield to be strengthened, while the second position was defence with 34% of votes. Forward and goalkeeping got 9.7% and 1.5% of total votes respectively.
