Napoli may be a club to keep an eye on when it comes to West Ham United midfielder Nikola Vlasic after his flying start to the season.

That’s according to Calcio Napoli 24, who detail today how the Italian side have tried to sign the Croatian midfielder on two different occasions.

Vlasic is currently starring for Torino is Serie A, having joined the Italian side on a season-long loan deal after being pushed down the pecking order at West Ham.

He’s quickly established himself as the star of the show at the club, with a series of impressive performances under Ivan Juric.

They’re keen to sign him on a permanent basis as soon as possible and have an option to do so included in his loan deal.

It seems they could face competition from Napoli, though, as they are long term admirers of the midfielder.

CN explain that they set their sights on Vlasic back in 2020 after then manager Gennaro Gattuso recommended him and pushed for a deal.

CSKA Moscow put a wall up around the player at that point, but Napoli continued to monitor him, even when he went to West Ham for €38m a year later.

The midfielder struggled to establish himself under David Moyes and so West Ham put him back on the market this year.

Napoli knocked again as they saw the player as a potential replacement for Fabian Ruiz but this time they missed out because Torino coach Juric managed to convince the player in one-to-one talks.

His plan immediately convinced the West Ham man and it’s proven to be a good one, with the player starring under his leadership.

The refusal displeased Napoli but they continue to keep an eye on him, potentially eyeing a move next summer when he is likely to be available.
