While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang might have left Chelsea due to a lack of game time and Mauricio Pochettino not planning on using him, that doesn’t mean he was no longer quick, as revealed by the player himself in a press conference.

The forward was allowed to go to Marseille this summer, where he signed a three year deal, showing just how much faith the Ligue 1 side have in the Gabon international.

Prior to that, however, the striker was living something close to a nightmare at Chelsea, where he wasn’t being used by either Graham Potter or Frank Lampard last season.

That didn’t change when Pochettino came along, and, just like Romelu Lukaku, he was asked to find himself a new club.

More than happy to leave Chelsea, he eventually made his way to the south of France, where he was asked about his fitness level and speed, as a lot is expected from him chasing onto through balls.

Laughing at the question, relayed by RMC Sport, he said: “To reassure you, I feel very good. Little anecdote. I held the record for speed at Chelsea last season in training. 36 km/h. So at that level, I think I’m alright.”
