Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg go big in their Wednesday edition on Simon Mignolet potentially leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
Jurgen Klopp has a preference for Loris Karius and that’s been the case since the German goalkeeper was signed. Whilst Mignolet has at times not helped himself, it’s always seemed Karius would be the pick if everything else was equal.
Het Belang van Limburg say Mignolet may have ‘played his last match’ for Liverpool, with Klopp now picking Karius for the Champions League as well Premier League.
The need for a transfer is said to be ‘more urgent than ever’, and the Belgian newspaper believe Mignolet needs to find a new club in the summer, and he’s urged to do so.
A lack of match rhythm ahead of the World Cup is seen as a problem for Belgium, because even though Thibaut Courtois is the undisputed first choice, it’s helpful if his back-up isn’t short of minutes.
Mignolet’s Liverpool contract lasts until 2020, and the 29 year old would be looking for a long term contract at another club, still feeling he has a lot to offer and also having a point to prove.
