Manchester City midfielder Mix Diskerud has told the Swedish media his agent was in talks with three other clubs before his move to the Premier League champions.

Diskerud joined Manchester City in the last transfer window, but was instantly loaned out to Swedish side IFK Goteborg.

Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, Diskerud was asked how his move to Manchester City came about: “My agent negotiated with three clubs, but for me personally, it was a surprise that happened. I signed a contract with Manchester City who praised my potential but also gave clear notice of what I need to work on.”

Diskerud signed for Manchester City from New York City, and was granted permission to join up with Goteborg at their winter training camp in Spain. The player had previously had a loan spell with the Swedish club last season.

The Norwegian born player’s transfer to Manchester City does seem a curious one, and it’s likely he will never turn out for the Blues. It seems the English side see Diskerud as an investment, which they can cash in on one day.

The player made 29 appearances for Goteborg last season, scoring 5 goals.
