Patrick Erras is closing in on a summer transfer, report Bild.
The 24 year old defensive midfielder is currently at FC Nurnberg, a club he joined in 2007 when still a child. He came through the ranks, but with a season left on his contract after this one, an exit is an increasing possibility.
Erras himself is quoted by the German newspaper as saying: “I can confirm that clubs from the Premier League and the Bundesliga have already approached my advisor. But my first contact will always be the club.”
The only English club named by Bild is Newcastle United.
Rafael Benitez’s side have been watching the player ‘for weeks’, but there’s no confirmation the approach has come from newcastle, although that seems to be the suggestion.
In March 2016 the player suffered a cruciate ligament rupture, which left him out of action for almost a year. It’s explained that before that knee injury, ‘many’ clubs were interested in signing him.
Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen were ‘ready to spend well over €10m’, but the price is now thought to be around €5m.
That’s easily reachable for Newcastle United.
