On Wednesday, we covered claims from France which stated Sunderland are in talks with RC Lens over a deal for Salis Abdul Samed.
The Black Cats have made firm progress to secure the 24-year-old’s services, according to Le Parisien journalist Marc Mechenoua.
He who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to claim Sunderland have agreed a deal with Lens to sign the midfielder on a loan deal.
Mechenoua further adds Salis Abdul Samed will travel to England on Thursday to carry out medical tests with the Championship side.
His claim is backed up Foot Mercato, who make it clear that Régis Le Bris’ side will not have an option or obligation to buy the player.
They also state the Ghana international should undergo Sunderland medical in the next few hours.
The defensive midfielder joined the Ligue 1 side from another Clermont Foot in 2022. He was a regular for the first 18 months at Lens, before starting to lose prominence in the second half of last season.
Salis Abdul Samed, who hasn’t made an appearance this season, would be hoping to relaunch his career with a loan move to Sunderland.
