On Thursday, Miguel Almirón’s agent Daniel Campo confirmed Charlotte FC’s interest in the Newcastle United player.
The winger has been reduced to a limited role this season, with 136 minutes from seven league games.
Last summer, Newcastle turned down an offer from Charlotte FC, who have returned for him.
Journalist Germán García Grova took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state the MLS side are in ‘advances talks’ with the Magpies for Almirón.
If they were to convert what they have discussed with Newcastle into a formal offer, the deal may go through. However, Germán García Grova claims an ‘immediate resolution is not expected.’
As well as the American club, Botafogo are looking to sign the 30-year-old in the winter market.

It’s claimed Charlotte FC are in ‘advanced talks’ with the Magpies to sign Almirón in the ongoing window. Eddie Howe considers the attacker an ‘important’ part of the squad but hasn’t blocked a sale.
Botafogo owner John Textor is willing to offer him a convincing salary and a contract until December 2028. At the same time, he doesn’t want to enter into a bidding war to secure his services.
The Brazilian club are well aware of the MLS side advancing to try and sign the Newcastle man in January.
Almirón’s priority is to continue in Europe and has received request from an unnamed Russian club. He may have to make a decision over Charlotte FC if there are no concrete approaches from Europe.
