Another day, and another claim from Mundo Deportivo about Phillippe Coutinho moving to Barcelona in the January transfer window.
This time there’s no front page fanfare and there’s no double page spread inside, Thursday’s Coutinho story is tucked away in a small column on page 8, perhaps the Catalan newspaper are also getting bored of the situation.
It’s claimed Barcelona sent two club officials to England this week, part of the reason was The Best event in London, and another part was to speak with Coutinho’s representatives and move the Liverpool transfer closer.
There’s now said to be optimism a deal can be done, and Liverpool have sent a message they want €150m, something which the same newspaper already reported on Wednesday.
That’s seen as some sort of progress, because at least it’s not €200m.
Mundo Deportivo believe Barcelona and Coutinho can pressure that Liverpool asking price down between now and January, and also once the winter window opens.
But first, before any of that, Barcelona need to secure sales, not only to help with transfer fee, but also to make room for Coutinho’s high wages.
