Earlier today, we covered Catalan claims on Barcelona going all out to sign Marcus Rashford on loan this month. The claims were carried on the front page of Catalan newspaper Sport, with the story then continuing into pages two and three.
It’s a similar theme in Italy, where Rashford takes the first three pages of Gazzetta dello Sport. The Manchester United player is splashed across the front page, with a claim the player wants a move to AC Milan.
The Italian state state Rashford is ‘getting closer’ to the Rossoneri, and it’s then claimed: ‘The English striker, through his agent Maynard and his brother Dane, has already expressed to the Rossoneri club his approval of a transfer to Serie A.’
Gazzetta dello Sport believe there’s been a breakthrough of sorts.
Manchester United are said to be keen for a dry loan, presumably with the hope they can then potentially negotiate a permanent exit and not have to cover the player’s wages beyond the summer. That means there’d be no need to negotiate the amount of a purchase option or what would happen with the player’s salary if that option were used.
Intriguingly, Gazzetta also cover the Barcelona angle, reporting Rashford’s agent flew to the city yesterday. There’s a confidence Milan will find a deal easier to do.
Manager Sergio Conceiçao is thought to be happy for the transfer to go ahead, and ‘senior advisor’ Zlatan Ibrahimovic has vouched for Rashford’s character after reports from England doubting his professionalism.
