Former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Walter Zenga believes he wasn’t given enough time at the club to turn their fortunes around. Zenga was recently sacked by the Championship side after just a few months in the role.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Zenga was asked about his dismissal compared to Frank De Boer’s recent exit at Inter Milan. Zenga believes the Wolves owners weren’t patient with him and pointed out De Boer was also sacked by Chinese owners like he was.

When asked who was most impatient, Wolves with him or Inter with De Boer, Zenga said: “Wolverhampton with me, sure. But we have one thing in common: Chinese owners.

The former Italy international also said in the time he was the manager of Wolves Inter Milan had three managers, which he thinks isn’t good for the Serie A side: I’ve been at Wolverhampton 87 days and in that same period, the Inter has changed three coaches. It is not easy to recover from a blow like that.”

Zenga joined Wolves in the summer following the takeover of the Championship side. A number of players were brought in during the window with the help of super-agent Jorge Mendes, including recruits from Benfica. However, Wolves’ poor start to the season cost Zenga his job after just a few months in the role, and the club is now led by Paul Lambert.
