There appears to have been a new twist in AFC Bournemouth’s attempts to sign Nicolo Zaniolo from AS Roma.

After a number of reports stating that the player had rebuffed the chance of moving to the Cherries, Gianluca Di Marzio has come out on Tuesday stating that he then changed his mind.

The journalist, taking to Twitter, reveals that Zaniolo ‘had accepted’ the move to Bournemouth last night, and was ‘ready to leave this morning’.

That was a huge win for the Premier League side, but it’s the Cherries themselves who then ‘blocked everything’ because ‘too much had already been spent’ getting other transfers done elsewhere.

Therefore, it appears Bournemouth simply ran out of money and have now found themselves unable to complete the deal for Zaniolo.

It’s worth pointing out that a few other clubs made a bid for the player over the course of the past 24 hours, with Leeds, Everton, Southampton and RB Leipzig all coming forward via the player’s agent, only for AS Roma to turn them down as they didn’t meet their requirements of getting the money guaranteed.
