José Mourinho and Pep Guardiola may not be working during the international break, but their names won’t stop being mentioned during interviews with their players.
Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has talked to Olé this weekend, and was obviously asked about the club manager.
Like most of the players who work under José Mourinho, Romero said the boss is a completely different man from the one who people think he is: “Everyone who has seen what happened at Real Madrid or watched press conferences hopes to see a person who comes straight at you and won’t go away. And it’s the opposite because he behaved very well from day one. He’s an open person who may be approached to give your point of view.”
“The day he arrived he gathered us all and said: ‘You are my players and I trust you.’ Before that, he had sent me a message telling me he was expecting me to join the group. I was in US and those are things that motivate you a lot.”
Sergio Romero has made only two appearances under José Mourinho for Manchester United. He played against Zorya Luhansk for the Europa League and Northampton Town for the EFL Cup.
Even before Romero moved to Manchester United he struggled to get first team football, and he’s been fortunate that successive Argentina managers have put their faith in him. He rarely lets his country down, and given there’s not huge competition, Romero continues to be picked to start between the posts.
