Youngster holding talks with Man United official – Player would see OT move as progress

Javier Ajenjo Hyjek has come through Atlético Madrid’s youth system and is currently representing their U19 side.

The 19-year-old’s current deal with the La Liga side will expire after this season and according to Sport.pl, several clubs in Spain are interested in the midfielder.

Manchester United also get a mention. It’s claimed the teenager could leave Atlético and is set to speak to a scout from United.

Hyjek father is a Spaniard, but his mother is from Poland, which is why he decided to represent the latter at U19 level.

Speaking to Sport.pl, his mother Ewa said: “Javier has several suggestions. We haven’t decided anything yet. We’ll see how things go. He is emotionally associated with Atletico, but he also has to think about his future. We will see what the club proposes.”

The report adds talks over an extension are set to take place on Wednesday, but it’s possible the youngster would prefer a new challenge because he wants regular playing time at a higher level.

A move to Old Trafford will see him be a part of Manchester United’s U23 side and Hyjek would consider that as ‘some progress’.

Even if Hyjek doesn’t break into United’s first team, it’s stated he could follow the Krystian Bielik route and go for a loan in a lower division.
