Last month, Manchester City completed the signing of Savinho from Troyes and he’s been the Premier League winners’ only big entry so far this summer.
Pep Guardiola’s side are owned by the City Football Group [CFG], who also own several other clubs, including Troyes, and this would have made it easier for the Citizens to agree a deal for the 20-year-old winger.
The Manchester City owners are focusing on PSV Eindhoven’s Jason van Duiven, according to De Telegraaf.
The 19-year-old is a product of the Dutch club’s academy but hasn’t yet made his first team debut. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Almere City and played 14 matches, without managing a goal or an assist.
This hasn’t put off the CFG, who see potential in the Netherlands U19 international based on his statistics.
It’s claimed Van Duiven will be ‘taken over’ by the CFG from PSV for a fee of around €3m. The report adds he has travelled to England to undergo medical tests and will be offered a long-term contract.
The Citizens owners plan to send him to Belgian side SK Lommel, another club owned by them.
It isn’t made clear whether van Duiven will initially sign for Manchester City and go out on loan to Lommel or join the Belgian club on a permanent transfer. This should be clarified in the next few hours.
