Back in mid May, we covered a number of stories suggesting that Barcelona B forward Rafa Mujica would be signing for Leeds United this summer.

The young striker’s contract with the Catalan side was expiring at the end of the month, and with no renewal in sight, a departure was expected.

Marca kicked everything off by claiming Mujica had ‘signed an agreement’ with the Championship side to play under Marcelo Bielsa, which was swiftly followed by El Desmarque, who stated Leeds had the ‘great economic potential’ to get a deal done.

The last we heard of it was on May 17th, as Tinta Amarilla believed the Elland Road residents had the ‘most interest’ in getting a deal done after contact had been ‘initiated’.

Fast forward to Friday, and Mujica took to Twitter to confirm his expected departure in a long post, where he thanked everyone at Barcelona, et cetera…

This led to a few articles being published on the matter, and the wide belief is it won’t be long until the 20-year-old becomes a Leeds player.

The forward featured 33 times for Barcelona’s B team last year, scoring seven goals and assisting once.

He certainly isn’t the finished product, and it will be interesting to see how he fares under Marcelo Bielsa next season.

If he does end up signing at Elland Road, that is.
