We’ve covered two reports from Spain today on Marc Guiu, the first said the 18-year-old was set to meet his family to get advice and make a decision whether to join Chelsea.
It was explained he’s very attracted by the Blues project, both the finances being offered and that he’ll be in the first team squad and have some prominence.
Later, we covered claims from Jijantes, which said he’d made his mind up and would be joining Chelsea, with the Premier League side simply having to pay his €6m clause.
Now, Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo show up to suggest Marc Guiu is getting above his station. They describe him as ‘a player who believes he is capable of demanding more than what his age and progression dictate’.
Vitor Roque’s potential departure would have also provided some more chances for the attacker. However, it’s made clear Barcelona wouldn’t have been willing to provide any real assurances about first team minutes.
Mundo Deportivo say at Barcelona they believe Marc Guiu ‘has a distorted view of his figure, something motivated by the fact that he spent many weeks training with the first team due to Xavi’s decision’.
Given all of that, they think the player’s demands ‘are above what would be appropriate for him due to age and prominence in the first team’.
The Catalan newspaper say he hasn’t had that meeting with his family yet and hasn’t made the final decision, but Barcelona consider him ‘lost’ to Chelsea.
