A year ago, Reece Oxford returned to West Ham from his loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.
It appeared the Hammers thought they could secure a big fee for the player’s exit but that didn’t come to fruition.
Then the 20 year old played for West Ham on January 16th, against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup, and that meant he either had to stay with the London club or return to Gladbach.
There could be no third club involved because FIFA prevents players representing more than two in any one season. So back to Germany he went.
This season the footballer has mainly been with West Ham’s U23 side, which must be frustrating.
German newspaper Bild believe Oxford is so frustrated that he ‘absolutely’ wants to leave during the January window.
Gladbach are said to be prepared to offer €12m, which considering Oxford is out of Manuel Pellegrini’s plans isn’t such a bad deal.
