Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has been quizzed on a potential return to AS Monaco and clearly shown he’s conflicted about the idea.
Telefoot have a brief interview with the midfielder today following Manchester City’s draw with Monaco on Wednesday.
It was something of a special evening for the Portuguese midfielder as he took on his former side on the big stage.
The 31-year-old spent several years with Monaco earlier in his career, joining them on loan initially in 2014. That deal was made permanent in 2015 for €17.75m.
He made 147 appearances for them in that time, with 28 goals, 19 assists and the Ligue 1 title in 2017 as well. He moved on to Manchester City that year and has been at the Etihad ever since.
His current deal with Pep Guardiola expires next summer. There is a belief that he will move on to pastures new at that point. He’s been linked with a move away pretty much every summer for the last few years.
A return to his first club, Benfica, has been mooted. French journalists wanted to know if he would instead consider going back to Monaco. He appeared conflicted at the idea.
“I can’t, don’t want to say I missed it. Let me say I have very good memories,” he said.
“It was a time, a very special time in my life. Monaco! It was the club that gave me the opportunity to start at that level, but it was a wonderful three years in Monaco, in France. We could see, you never know. You never know.”
