Joey Pelupessy has spoken to the Dutch media about his career and his time with Sheffield Wednesday.

Pelupessy spent three seasons at Hillsborough following his transfer in 2018 from Heracles Almelo.

Speaking to Het Belang van Limburg, the 31-year-old was asked about his time with Sheffield Wednesday and it’s clearly an important period for him.

The Dutchman believes his time in England has left on a mark on him with the games he was involved in. Pelupessy highlighted the support English clubs get, with the big stadiums and impressive crowds.

“I played 119 games at both Heracles and Sheffield Wednesday. In England, among others, against Man City and Chelsea. You don’t forget matches like that. The stadiums were always well filled,” said the ex-Sheffield Wednesday player.

Pelupessy made 119 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday, scoring one goal for the Yorkshire club. He was Jos Luhukay’s first signing with the Owls when he recruited his compatriot in 2018.

However, the former Netherlands youth international left the English club when his contract expired in 2021, joining Turkish side Giresunspor on a free transfer.

The defensive midfielder recently joined Belgian side Lommel S.K. on an 18-month contract.

Lommel are in the Challenger Pro League, which is Belgium’s second tier. They find themselves eight out of 16 after 15 matches.
