For months Ruben Neves has been linked with a move to Barcelona, and the theme has been the same: Jorge Mendes is pushing the transfer, Neves is desperate to sign for Barca, Xavi isn’t super-keen on the player, but the Catalan club see it as a good deal to do.
There also seems to be something of a settling of accounts here, with Barcelona potentially owing Mendes a helping hand and the agent himself potentially having promised Neves this kind of move when he agreed to swap FC Porto for Wolves.
Sport now say Neves moving to Barcelona will happen ‘yes or yes’, meaning there’s no question about it. It’s explained this will be a no cost transfer with Neves and Ansu Fati being involved in a straight swap deal, and it’s a ‘club’ deal so above the wishes of the manager.
Interestingly, it’s said Ansu Fati hasn’t yet given his approval to leaving the Camp Nou but that’s not presented as a problem with the expectation Mendes will sort out any issues there.
Neves is expected to sign a four-year deal with Barcelona.
