Bayern president Herbert Hainer has insisted they can more than afford any €100m plus deals this summer, as they continue to be linked with a move for West Ham United’s Declan Rice.
The Bayern president has been speaking to Sport BILD, relayed by Sky Sport Germany, about this summer and the club’s ability to compete with more powerfully financial competitors.
The German champions are expected to undergo something of an overhaul under Thomas Tuchel, who will want to reshape the squad to better suit his plans moving forwards.
A move for Rice has been mooted for weeks, with several reports making it clear that the German manager and several of Bayern’s hierarchy have already met the West Ham star to discuss a transfer.
The big question is whether Bayern can afford to compete financially, with West Ham demanding a deal worth in excess of €100m if their prized asset is to leave the London Stadium at any point this summer.
Hainer, though, insists that is not a problem for them and they can comfortably afford any such deal if they need to.
“We are very well positioned economically and have big goals. So, the answer is: Yes, we could – but we would discuss it intensively in our group,” he said on the subject.
“In the end, the candidates have to fit Bayern. But if we really want someone, Bayern can also get a player from the Premier League. We’re a very good, well-respected address.”
