Erik Lamela is no longer a regular under José Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur as he has been restricted to only five starts in the Premier League this season.

With a contract expiring in 2022, Spurs could consider offloading the 29-year-old in the summer.

Bologna are looking at the possibility of signing the attacking midfielder. Two days ago, the Serie A side’s interest in the Argentine was confirmed by their sports coordinator, Walter Sabatini.

Sabatini stressed the former AS Roma man can be an ideal replacement for Riccardo Orsolini, if the latter leaves Bologna.

Luca Cecconi represented Bologna during his playing career and had two different spells with them as an assistant coach and a caretaker manager. TuttoMercatoWeb interviewed Cecconi, and the former coach warned the Italian club not to sign Lamela.

“Lamela does not convince me, he does not fall into the category of players I was referring to before,” Cecconi said.

“For him, joining Bologna would be a step backwards. The stimuli would not be among the highest. Beyond player value, it wouldn’t be a good choice.”

With Cecconi sharing his thoughts on the possibility of the Italian club signing Lamela, it remains to be seen whether or not Bologna will consider his opinion.
