We certainly will forgive any Wolverhampton Wanderers fans who don’t know who Silvinho Esajas is, even if he spent time at the Premier League club.

This is according to the player himself, who is currently at ADO Den Haag in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, which is the Netherlands’ second-tier.

He’s not a regular either, with him coming off the bench in every game he’s played in the league to date, but he did pick up his first goal on Saturday in a 2-2 draw against De Graafschap.

Why are Wolves involved in this? Because the midfielder looked back at his career to date following his goal for the Dutch side, and recalled how he ended up in Italy in 2019.

He told Groen Geel Hart: “I was looking for such an exciting adventure at the time. I did a trial at Wolverhampton Wanderers, but they wouldn’t give me a professional contract.”

That’s when he then tried his luck at Hellas Verona, who decided to sign him on a free transfer from Zeeburgia, where he stayed for the one year, making a few appearances for their Primavera side.

He then moved the next year to ADO Den Haag’s U21s, before being promoted to the first-team side this year.

As for Wolves, they probably aren’t regretting not handing Esajas a contract, but it does show how tough Premier League clubs can be when having to make decisions following trials.

Still, he’s building his career up, and perhaps, if all goes well, he could get a chance to prove the Molineux side wrong going forward.
