Ahead of this tie, Los Angeles FC manager Steve Cherundolo spoke to the media, where he was specifically asked about the imminent arrival of the Tottenham player, and AS have relayed his comments.
The MLS side’s manager has heaped praise on the 33-year-old but refused to confirm the impending move.
“Nothing is official, so I really can’t comment on it. He’s a player that, I think, any team in our league, or perhaps the world, would like to have on their squad. But since nothing is official, I won’t make any comment,” he said.
According to ESPN Deportes, Son’s move to America will see the Europa League winners collect $26m [€22.5m]. This will be the new MLS-record signing, surpassing the $22m [€19m] invested by Atlanta United to get Emmanuel Latte Lath from Middlesbrough.
