Nottingham Forest have maintained the third spot in the Premier League table with a 1-0 win over Manchester United on Tuesday.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are six points ahead of fourth placed Manchester City and are in firm contention to qualify for the Champions League.
Matz Sels has been one of the standout players for Nottingham Forest this season. The Reds goalkeeper has kept 13 clean sheets and is now leading the Premier League clean sheet charts.
Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya is second with 11 clean sheets and Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson and Everton’s Jordan Pickford are third with nine each. Sels had a chat with Play Sports in Belgium, and they asked him about winning the Golden Glove this season.
When responding to that, the Belgium international insisted personal achievement would mean nothing if Nottingham Forest fail to finish this season in the top four.
“I’m not [focusing] on it at the moment,” he said.
“I have to say, in Belgium I’ve already won a few trophies, in France once. So, of course it’s always nice when you get a trophy individually. But, as I say if we still fall out of top four now, that would be very painful.
“So, we just have to keep going and then, yeah, that actually always comes together. So, if we keep performing like this, that’s going to be rewarded at the end of the season as well. And then, voilà, that’s a work of the whole team. Still a couple of games to go.”
Nottingham Forest still have eight games left in the Premier League this season. They have conceded 35 goals from 30 games and currently have the fourth best defensive record, behind Arsenal [25], Liverpool [27] and Crystal Palace [34].
