Arsenal’s pursuit of Galatasaray fullback Sacha Boey had always been a strong rumour in the Turkish media, with the stories getting stronger lately.
This week, we’ve seen claims saying the Gunners have already placed an official offer for the transfer, as the clubs engage in negotiations to get that done.
It turns out, however, that Boey’s move to Arsenal or any other European giant may be off. That’s according to a report from Turkish outlet Sabah today.
The website reports that the player has just suffered an ankle injury while on duty with France’s U21s squad, and that’s why a move this summer ‘may fall in the water’.
Galatasaray had been planning to sell him for at least €20m, and wouldn’t accept to make any discounts because of this injury.
There are no big details on how serious the injury is, despite Sabah pointing out the player had to be removed from France’s current squad.
A clearer picture of his recovery picture will certainly make it easy to understand if Arsenal or other interested clubs would be about to give up on the signing.
Should no one come forward, then a renewal with a 100% wage increase would be the route forward for Galatasaray and Boey.
