Gonzalo Montiel’s ups and downs at Nottingham Forest are always followed closely by the Seville press, and it’s no different with his recent absence.
The fullback stayed out of the Reds’ squad in the last two Premier League matches, and that’s enough for some to worry about his future at the club.
Estadio Deportivo now feature a story claiming that with the ‘rollercoaster’ lived by Montiel at Nottingham Forest, his permanent move could be ‘put at risk’.
The loan agreement between the clubs includes a clause which says the Tricky Trees could be obligated to puchase Montiel for €11m in case a number of appearances is reached.
The story claims that Sevilla initially thought that goal would be easily achieved, and that would be a ‘guaranteed’ amount coming to the club. That money was already earmarked for incoming transfers.
The problem is that Montiel had a tough start at Nottingham Forest, and despite getting some chances to start this year, that seems to have collapsed now.
Montiel is still recovering from an injury and is unlikely to play at the weekend. That only makes Sevilla more nervous about the situation, and the local media will be following all of his steps from now to the end of the season.
