Italy’s Calciomercato bring a Monday afternoon report on Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot, which is based on information from their own sources.
The report begins by saying interest from Fiorentina and AS Roma is genuine, with the Italian pair among a handful of Serie A clubs to be linked with the player in recent months.
Dalot spent a loan spell with AC Milan, during which he was mainly used as a rotation option and as support on either the left or right. The view of how well that period went seems to be rosier the longer ago it becomes.
Calciomercato also credit Atletico Madrid with interest, but they say the big issue here is Manchester United now making efforts to renew the player’s contract.
Despite Dalot not having the same prominence in recent matches, it’s said the Old Trafford club are ‘working to secure him’ beyond the end of his current deal, which expires in June 2023.
Regardless of whether they want to sell him or not, a renewal would also help the 22-year-old retain some value in the transfer market.
