Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann has insisted he won’t be losing any sleep over his mistake in Austria’s 1-1 draw with Moldova.
The goalkeeper has been speaking to Servus TV, relayed by Sky Sport Austria, regarding his mistake in the game and his reaction to it.
Bachmann and his team had to contend themselves with a point against the Moldovans after battling back from 1-0 down following a gift of an opener for the away side.
The Watford goalkeeper conceded early on when he miscontrolled an awkward, waist high back pass from defender Kevin Danso when it bounced in front of him.
He tried to respond by controlling it with his head but instead slipped, fell to the floor and watched in horror as Moldova Vitalie Damascan then took the opportunity presented to him to open the scoring.
Amid frustration at the result following the game, fingers were firmly pointed at the Watford man, with many believing the error was an entirely avoidable one that ultimately set his team on course for a disappointing evening.
He isn’t having any of that, though, and insists he won’t be losing any sleep over the matter in the weeks to come.
“Mistakes happen in life, especially in football,” he said.
“Otherwise, there would be no goals. The timing is just bitter, the return pass was not so easy to process. But I won’t lose any sleep because of that.
“It’s never easy playing against teams that are eleven at the back. We had most of the ball possession, but we weren’t cool-headed or determined enough. It was definitely better in the second half. We want to win every game, today it just wasn’t enough.”
