Bayern Munich will need sales, or player departures, before they can think of a move for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo.

That’s according to journalists Tobias Altschäffl and Christian Falk. They’ve been speaking on the Bayern Insider podcast, relayed by SportBILD.

A report yesterday indicated that Bayern have the Nottingham Forest star on their list. The Brazilian has earned plenty of admirers around Europe with his performances over the last two years.

Bayern are monitoring central defenders as there are doubts about their current options. Dayot Upamecano’s deal expires in 2026 and hasn’t been renewed. Kim Min-jae is also on the sale list at the German club.

Murillo could be a replacement for either. He’s already established himself in the Premier League with a series of impressive performances for Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest player has ‘market value of €55m’

Both journalists, though, insist any deal would be an expensive one for Bayern. And that means they’d need sales or departures before potentially moving for the centre-back.

“He has a market value of €55m,” said Altschäffl.

“So, a really expensive player. He’s a name that’s interesting for Bayern. But it would cost money, and first they would have to sell players or not extend their contracts.”

“An exciting player, he’s a bit under the weather at the moment,” added Falk.

“Real Madrid already tried to sign him when Éder Militão was injured. And they immediately extended Murillo’s contract. That was in January; he has a new deal until 2029 with no release clause. So, as you say, it won’t be cheap. And Chelsea are also said to have him on their list.”

It seems, then, this is one to keep an eye on in future. Nottingham Forest certainly have nothing to worry about with that contract until 2029.

They’ll perhaps watch how things develop at Bayern, particularly with Upamecano and Kim Min-jae, before becoming too nervous.
